How to Fix HMS 0700-7000-0002-0001: AMS Filament Load Error

Bambu Lab HMS error code 0700-7000-0002-0001 falls within the 0700-7000 AMS filament management subgroup, which covers higher-level filament load, unload, and swap operations. Suffix 0002-0001 indicates a filament loading operation — the sequence of feeding filament from the AMS through the Bowden path to the toolhead — failed to complete.

What the Error Means

A filament load failure means the filament did not reach its intended endpoint within the expected time or sensor confirmation was not received. This differs from the 0700-4000 sensor errors (which track detection) and 0700-2000 motor errors (which track the motor) — the 0700-7000 group represents the overall operation failing at a higher coordination level. Contributing factors include any of the individual issues in the detection and motor subgroups, plus coordination-level issues such as incorrect filament type selection causing temperature preparation failures before loading.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Note which slot and filament color the printer attempted to load when the error occurred.
  2. Remove the filament from that slot and trim the leading tip cleanly to remove any deformed or angled tip from the previous attempted load.
  3. Manually advance the filament into the AMS slot until you can confirm it is seated past the first feed sensor (the slot indicator should show “loaded” on the printer screen).
  4. Confirm the nozzle is at an appropriate temperature for the filament being loaded. The printer must heat the nozzle before completing a full load to the toolhead tip — if the nozzle is too cool, the filament tip will not pass the hotend.
  5. Use the printer’s manual filament change menu to retry the load slowly.
  6. If the load fails at the toolhead entry point, suspect a partial clog or cold hotend as described in the 0300-0D00 series guides.
  7. If the load fails in the AMS itself before the Bowden tube, refer to the 0700-2000 motor and 0700-4000 sensor guides.

Parts Required

  • No replacement parts are typically required for a standard load failure
  • Replacement PTFE tube if friction testing indicates degradation
