How to Fix HMS 0700-2000-0002-0004: AMS Filament Feed Failure

Bambu Lab HMS error code 0700-2000-0002-0004 is an AMS filament feed failure in the 0700-2000 AMS motor subgroup. Suffix 0002-0004 indicates the AMS motor attempted to feed filament to the printer toolhead but the feed operation did not complete — the filament either did not advance far enough or did not reach the expected sensor checkpoint within the allowed time.

What the Error Means

Feed failures in the AMS occur when the physical filament does not advance as commanded by the motor. This can be caused by the filament tip being too large or deformed to enter the PTFE tube (from a previous incomplete cut), excessive friction in the long Bowden tube run between the AMS and the toolhead, a clogged PTFE connection at the toolhead entry, or a feed motor that is running but slipping on the filament without advancing it.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Remove the filament from the affected slot and inspect the leading tip. A deformed, splayed, or angled tip will catch on tube connectors. Trim the tip cleanly at a perpendicular angle with sharp cutters.
  2. Reload the trimmed filament and attempt a manual load from the printer menu at reduced speed.
  3. Inspect the PTFE tube route from the AMS to the toolhead. Look for any segments that are kinked, looped, or have excess internal friction.
  4. Disconnect the PTFE tube at the toolhead entry and attempt to manually push filament through from the AMS end. You should feel smooth, consistent resistance.
  5. Check that the AMS drive wheel is engaging the filament — if the filament is too thin or the wheel is worn, it may spin without gripping.
  6. Confirm the filament diameter is appropriate for your AMS model. Larger diameter tolerances can impede feeding.
  7. Inspect the buffer unit (if your setup uses one) for blockage or improper tension.

Parts Required

  • PTFE tube replacement if friction testing reveals degradation
  • New spool of filament if the current filament is too moisture-damaged to feed reliably
