How to Fix HMS 0700-0100-0002-0006: AMS Hub Connection Lost

Bambu Lab HMS error code 0700-0100-0002-0006 is an AMS hub connection loss error within the 0700-0100 AMS communication subgroup. Where suffix 0001-0005 indicates a data protocol error, suffix 0002-0006 indicates the connection to the AMS hub was lost entirely during operation — not at startup, but while actively printing or during a filament change.

What the Error Means

A mid-operation connection loss is particularly disruptive because it can occur during a filament change, leaving the printer in an undefined filament state. The root cause is almost always physical — a cable that becomes intermittent under tension as the toolhead moves, a connector that vibrates loose during printing, or a cable that develops a break at a stress point. In multi-AMS configurations, it can also arise from a hub that loses power during operation.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Pause any active print job using the printer interface.
  2. Power off the printer and the AMS, then inspect the full length of the AMS connection cable. Pay particular attention to the segments closest to the printer rear port and the AMS hub, where cable movement and stress concentration are greatest.
  3. Look for cable routing issues — if the cable is routed under the printer or through a tight clip that causes it to be pulled taut during certain toolhead positions, reroute it with enough slack.
  4. Reconnect both cable ends firmly and power on.
  5. If you have multiple AMS units, test with only one connected to isolate whether the loss is from a specific unit or cable.
  6. Cable-tie or secure the AMS cable along its run to prevent movement-induced intermittency.
  7. If the same point of the cable consistently causes connection loss when flexed, replace the cable.

Parts Required

  • AMS hub connection cable (model-specific replacement)
  • Cable management clips for improved cable routing

If connection loss occurs with a brand-new cable, the AMS hub port or the printer’s AMS port may have damaged contacts — contact Bambu Lab support.
